An Open Letter to Michelle Wolf

Dear Michelle Wolf:

I’ll keep this short.

I’m one of the millions you inspired with your performance Saturday night.

Whatever you do, please, please, don’t surrender to the attacks. Don’t apologize.

The line drawing the fire, as you know, is your brilliant and courageous comparison of Sarah Huckabee Sanders to Aunt Lydia in the Handmaid’s Tale.

No surprise. The attacks on you are not about impropriety or stepping over the line or being mean. They are about truth spoken to power in a way that, for those in power, was alarmingly dead on. After all, what is Sarah Huckabee Sanders if not a high-level functionary for a corrupt regime, just like Aunt Lydia.

You exposed Sanders as a modern-day brown shirt, just as Colbert once exposed the ineptitude of the Bush administration and Larry Wilmore exposed the brutality of Obama’s drone bombing. On each occasion, the room fell silent. Ugly truth wrapped in humor can be unsettling.

So, when pressed to apologize, respond by saying that you’ll apologize as soon as Sarah Huckabee Sanders apologizes to Jim Comey, Hillary Clinton, and countless others she has smeared at the behest of the wannabe tyrant to whose black hole she has so willingly, eagerly and treacherously hitched her wagon.

  1. No mention of the comments Wolf made regarding abortion and making sure to knock around the baby really good to make sure it’s dead? Yes, this woman clearly represents the pinnacle of “heroics” from the left.

It’s one thing to say “It’s a joke, people, get over it.” But you tried to compare Wilmore’s comment of “I saw you hanging out with NBA players like Steph Curry, Golden State Warriors. That was cool…You know, it kind of makes sense too, because both of you like raining down bombs on people from long distances.” to a smear that directly disparaged someone’s physical appearance, something that SHS has been a frequent recipient of and that most people with a shred of decency would be hesitant to encourage. We criticize Trump for these kinds of attacks (rightfully so I would add), but we praise Wolf? This is why people call hypocrisy on the left.

    • She’s a comic. She is a liberal but she does not represent the left, anymore than I do, she was there to entertain and she went after the left as hard as the right.

      Here’s the transcript.

      https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2018/04/29/michelle-wolfs-caustic-comedy-routine-at-the-white-house-correspondents-dinner-annotated/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.eead64e19774

Trump, on the other hand, is the elected leader of the GOP and does represent the GOP, and SHS represents Trump. What the POTUS says is light years more important than what a comic says. Statements by POTUS cause the market to move, up or down, they can give people hope or put fear into them, they cause wars.

There was a comment about Chris Christie’s appearance that no one seems to be very upset about. Where is the outrage over the fat joke?

      This is all pretty silly.

      • What’s silly is thinking that she hit the left just as hard as she hit the right.
Trump is a racist, sexist, incestual, incompetent, lying buffoon who uses porn stars as prostitutes and commits treasonous activities with Russia, and is a Russian puppet. Mike Pence looks like a gay man and wants to oppress women. Sanders is an “Uncle Tom” of women, as is Ann Coulter. Pro-Life supporters are secretly adulterous hypocrites. Megyn Kelly is a disappointment to women. Fox News employs sexual offenders. Christ Christie is fat, Paul Ryan is a coward, Mitch McConnel has an ugly neck, Roy Moore is a pedophile, and Sanders either has ugly eyes or wears too much makeup.

And you’re comparing that to what? Hillary Clinton not campaigning in Michigan? Rachel Maddow digressing? Jim Acosta not asking tough enough questions? Al Franken being “ousted” although she won’t describe him in any fashion or what he was ousted for? Democrats losing to pedophiles (I can only assume the hypothetical pedophile of reference represents Republican opponents).

You don’t seem to understand, the reasoning you just gave me (about who Trump represents versus who Wolf doesn’t) is exactly the basis of the argument for hypocrisy. Vile speech should be condemned no matter where it comes from, if you’re going to condemn it at all. I personally don’t take issue with what she said, but I take huge issue with the idea that she gets to say vile things and be heralded as a champion against a President you dislike because he…says vile things?

Statements by a comedian at a WHCP might provoke a volatile president to say things that make a market go up, or down, give hope, cause fears, or start wars. Now don’t mistake me, she needs to be able to speak freely, just don’t tout her as a symbol of triumph for doing something that you would easily condemn someone else for doing. It’s that simple.

    • They were talking about this on the PBS Newshour last night. Someone (don’t remember her name) said that they keep inviting comedians to the WH Correspondents dinner events and then everyone gets mad about something they said. This is what comedians do in today’s entertainment world. They do not tell knock-knock jokes. Their humor is sometimes brutal. The simple solution is to stop inviting them if you don’t like it.

      • Agreed, there needs to be a higher standard applied to those who the WHCA chooses to give such a large and prominent platform too if the general public is going to start garnishing more respect for mainstream media. One newspaper (The Hill) has already vowed to stop attending in the future. Even the WHCA president felt the speech was negatively uncomfortable. Keep up people like Wolf though if the goal is to have people fall in line behind Trump when he attacks the integrity of MSM.

Last night’s vile, personal attacks on @SaraHuckabee and @kellyannpolls were disgusting and outrageous. Once again the hypocrisy of the left is exposed as they attack successful women!

  3. Good post, Mr. Lord. Here’s why the MSM is sad. Wolf rightly calls them out on their BS.

“There’s a ton of news right now; a lot is going on, and we have all these 24-hour news networks, and we could be covering everything. But, instead, we’re covering like three topics. Every hour, it’s Trump, Russia, Hillary and a panel of four people who remind you why you don’t go home for Thanksgiving…

…You guys are obsessed with Trump. Did you used to date him? Because you pretend like you hate him, but I think you love him. I think what no one in this room wants to admit is that Trump has helped all of you. He couldn’t sell steaks or vodka or water or college or ties or Eric, but he has helped you.

He’s helped you sell your papers and your books and your TV. You helped create this monster, and now you’re profiting off of him. And if you’re gonna profit off of Trump, you should at least give him some money because he doesn’t have any.”

And Wolf ends the night with this:

“Flint still doesn’t have clean water.”

    Boom.

Along with Trump’s corruption, Russia, and HRC, the MSM should be covering the damage to America Trump’s immigration policies, DoD and DoJ, EPA, and corrupt family and cabinet are doing all day long.

I don’t think the MSM is “fake news”, but I think they’re bullshit all the same, and Michelle Wolf is a Patriot.

And I think I’ll go away now and just say, #NoWileybudNoPeace.
