As you can see, Congressman Grijalva has approximately a 4,000 vote lead and Congresswoman Giffords has approximately a 2,300 vote lead.
Pima County Democratic Party Chairman Jeff Rogers says that he met with Pima County Elections Director Brad Nelson yesterday and here is the current plan:
Vote counting on the 25,300 early ballots dropped at the polls starts at 1 p.m. Today. They will post updated results between 5-6 p.m. on the county GEMS web site and the SOS web site.
In addition to the 25,300 early ballots, there are the following to count: 3,248 received at Elections yesterday, but not counted; 3,353 that have to be duplicated because they were rejected by the counting machines; 2,561 that had to be duplicated because they were in too poor condition to be sent through the machines; 20 ballots picked up at post office Tuesday; and, 12,718 provisional ballots voted on election day (estimates are that most of these are people who lost or forgot their VBM ballots and about 75% will be valid & counted). Counting will continue on Friday at 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. with updates posted between noon and 1 p.m. and again after 5 p.m.
Most of the above should be done by Friday at 5 p.m., but there are also 220 conditional provisional ballots that people have until Tuesday at 5 p.m. to bring in their proof of I.D. to have their ballot counted.
