Cooperation Unconference at City High School

City High School is at 47 E. Pennington, between Stone Ave. and Scott Ave. Hosted by Election 2016: Now What?

“Worried, upset or heartsick about what is happening to our country? Feel a need to ‘Do Something’ about it?

Come to the Cooperation Unconference to find a supportive community of creative, effective people who want to hear your ideas and how you want to be involved. If you’ve never been to an ‘unconference’ its a great experience, fun, fast-paced and participatory. You help shape the sessions and choose things you are comfortable with and interested in.

It will be fun. We have live “Music for a Change” with Diane Van Deurzen & Lisa Otey at lunchtime, and some pretty cool panel discussions to kick us off:

Running for Office with Steve Farley, Victoria Steele, Ralph Atchue, and Randy Moody

Journalism and Public Engagement with Mari Herraras of the Weekly and Jeff Weber of CreativeTucson/Channel 20

Counteracting Political Despair with Dr Suzi Dovi of the UA Political Science dept.

Effective Activism with Vanessa Richter of Stronger Together AZ, Anna E. Dolak J.D. of the League of Women Voters, Gina Santos of Progressives of SoAZ, and Jonathan Rothschild, Mayor of Tucson.

Its free, but please Register at the Eventbrite url because space is limited:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cooperation-unconference-registration-31573577420

Optional small donation to City High School for hosting. Please come and connect. We can’t wait for “them” to fix things. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for !”

  1. Attended first panel workshop on Journalism with Mari Herreras from Tucson Weekly, Jeff Weber of Creative Tucson (came in late), Dr. Marriah Star (contributor to AZ Daily Star), and Dylan Smith, editor/publisher of online Tucson Sentinel. Interesting discussion with about 8 participants about whether they welcome activists/readers’ contributions or assistance in research, citizen journalists, copyright/libel issues ensuing, how to get your letter/guest opinion published (need local angle), burn out by journalists. Most people at this conference were attending the downstairs panel on Running for Office. Ongoing conference today till 3 p.m.
