Democratic team to run for Arizona Corporation Commission

Bill MundellFormer Arizona Corporation Commissioner Bill Mundell filed to run for the Arizona Corporation Commission on February 5.  Former state representative Tom Chabin also filed to run for the Arizona Corporation Commission on February 5.  Both are running as Democrats as a team, and both are running as Clean Election candidates.

I do not find a web site for Bill Mundell (right), but you can go to the Secretary of State’s web site to Sign a Candidate Petition or Give $5 Qualifying Contribution.

Tom_ChabinTom Chabin (right) has a web site where you can electronically sign his petition, make a a $5 Clean Elections contribution, and volunteer to work on his campaign. Support — Tom Chabin for Corporation Commission.

It was my understanding that there was to be a campaign kickoff event this week in Phoenix and Tucson, but this blog has not received a press release to date. (Hint: send us your press releases).

This is an opportunity to break the GOP culture of corruption at the Arizona Corporation Commission, which is now a captive regulatory agency of the utilities it is supposed to regulate (APS, SRP, TEP, etc.) The “dark money” melodrama that has been playing out at the Arizona Corporation Commission is a disgrace.

  1. Spot on! That’s why we are taking the issue directly to APS shareholders.

Please be certain to purchase at least one share of Pinnacle West stock so you can join us at their shareholder meeting this year. See here for more. https://www.facebook.com/events/1679767065635300/

  2. The effort to kill rooftop solar in Arizona finally surfaces next month when the ACC conducts a hearing in Tucson on Unisource’s rate hike request. Docket here. /a>

    • SolarCity won’t even bid on my house due to issues with SRP.

SRP being government regulated, it seems like my government is working against me.

  3. “At this point you MUST assume that any dark money on Republican candidates are coming from APS or the oil, gas and coal industries.”

For years now, you’d be foolish not to assume this.

  4. Frances Perkins

“They” (the fossil fuel lobby) are fighting tooth and nail in numerous States to hold back the tide of renewables. It is especially bad in Florida and Nevada, and getting worse in Arizona. This needs to be emphasized. The light on the dark money of APS will help. At this point you MUST assume that any dark money on Republican candidates are coming from APS or the oil, gas and coal industries.
