A People’s Public Hearing Exploring Ecological Water in Arizona

Thomas Meixner, Ph.D., Professor and Associate Department Head, Dept. of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Arizona. Tom will speak about the current state of Arizona’s environmental waters.

Julia Fonseca, Environmental Planning Manager, Pima County Office of Sustainability & Conservation. Julia will discuss the county’s management of environmental water & current legal framework challenges.

The second in a series of citizen-organized public hearings to be held around the state regarding the current and desired future state of Arizona’s rivers, streams & springs.

Explore a state-level legislative proposal to define “ecological water”, recognize it as a beneficial use, and create a state program to study and manage waters that sustain freshwater ecosystems and human livelihoods and well-being.
