FEBRUARY PDA COMMUNITY MEETING
Wednesday, February 28, 6:30-8:00 pm, Ward 6 office, 3202 E. First Street
Dan Millis, Sierra Club Borderlands expert, rescheduled from January.
U.S. immigration, trade and border policies are wreaking havoc on the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. More than 650 miles of barriers and walls were built without regard for dozens of laws that protect land, air, water, historic and cultural sites and religious freedom. Instead of addressing issues at the root of human migration, lawmakers continually call for a more-of-the-same approach: more walls, agents, and sweetheart deals for security contractors. Sierra Club fights for better border policies and strives to educate the public about the importance of natural areas along U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada.
Born and raised in Arizona, Dan Millis has worked on border issues since 2005. He is the Borderlands Program Organizer for Arizona’s Grand Canyon Chapter of the Sierra Club.
