Mothers of Bedford

WEDNESDAY, JULY 25 AT 5:30PM | FREE ADMISSION

Part of the Art for Justice Film Series presented by The University of Arizona Poetry Center.

Eighty percent of women in US prisons today are mothers of school-age children. Mothers of Bedford tells the story of five women, mapping the experience of motherhood through the lens of mass incarceration.  Filmed over four years, the film chronicles Sister Elaine Roulet’s work in the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, where Roulet works to allow greater access between incarcerated mothers and their children.  Join us after the film for a Q & A with Director Jennifer McShane.

Outstanding series of films/documentaries that ALL should see. Explains where America and its people find themselves today. Who is going to stop the machinery of destruction by our government joined at the hip with the profiteers in human misery? The US #1 jailer in the world, America “land of the free” (a myth?). Shameful.
