One Response to Ward 2 Town Hall

  1. About 80 people at this town hall tonight, to hear first from Councilman Paul Cunningham (park improvements, major Eastside corridors, homeless vets, commercial occupancy issues in Ward 2), then City Mgr. Michael Ortega who was proud that he had balanced the budget for the last 2 years, the passage of Prop. 101 at 62.48%, has high staff quality, and hopes to hire a new P &R Director. Then TPD Capt. Frank Greene of Eastside Command spoke about highest property crime & 80% car busts are due to unlocked cars in Ward 2, Eastside command is all area east of Craycroft Rd. Then Interim P & R Director Michael Hayes spoke of planned improvements to Jesse Owens Park (irrigation system), new splash pad at Palo Verde Park pool, new pickle ball courts there as well, plus free pool attendance this summer. Transportation Director Daryl Cole passed out 3 maps and mentioned Prop. 101 and the expected $20 M for roadways, the Broadway/Camino Seco to Houghton plans. Questions from audience were mostly about transportation & roads & traffic signals in Eastside, sidewalks, backwash from private pools, hot rodders, Ft. Lowell pond water (storm run off), cutting branches & shrubs on roadways.
