About NEA’s Read Across America
The National Education Association is building a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. Now in its 20th year, this year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources.
“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child.”
Carolyn’s note: as most of you know, early childhood reading is important for literacy. Please read to your child daily, and emphasize the love of books and libraries. We used to own a red/white hat of the Cat in the Hat, and I gave it to beloved Himmel Park librarian Beth Rubio, who passed away a few years ago.
Sad to read this about Dr. Seuss, puts his cartoons in a whole new light: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/kids-use-dr-seuss-week-to-teach-classmates-about-his-racist-cartoons_us_58b99751e4b0b9989417281f?utm_content=buffer5c410&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
