  1. Mayor Jonathan Rothschild spoke of Tucson’s new designation as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and pointed out the various food sampling booths at tonight’s birthday celebration. Supervisor Richard Elias mentioned his 7th generation family history and traditions that make up Tucson. In the beginning Linda Mayro of the Pima County Office of Conservation & Sustainability said that this is no longer a birthday celebration (241) but a “cultural convergence”. As usual Hugo O’Conor’s 8/20/1775 letter proclaiming the establishment of the Tucson Presidio was read in Spanish/English, and the various flags (7) which have been flown over Tucson were recognized and displayed. Happy Birthday Tucson, tomorrow. Retiring JP Carmen Dolny present tonight as well, as she is one of the Las Donas de los Descendientes del Presidio de Tucson.
