It’s Christmas in July at PACC

This is a reminder that this Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the Pima Animal Care Center’s Christmas in July adoption event.

There will be free adoptions for dogs and cats (though dog adoptions will require payment of the $15 license fee).

PACC is transforming the center into a winter wonderland and adopting families can have their picture taken with Santa and their new fury family member for free. There will be food, fun and prizes, too.

While this is a fun event, it also is serious business. PACC is full. More than full, in fact. There are more than 1,000 animals at the facility now, a near record number, including many, many cats and kittens. As you know, PACC never turns an animal away – the only shelter of its kind in the county – so the public’s help adopting some of these animals and reducing the center’s census is badly needed.

Any help you can provide informing the public about this event will help save some of these animals’ lives.

Additionally, PACC is in the middle of a three month ASPCA contest to save more animals between June and August than it did last June through August. If PACC has the greatest percentage of animals saved, it could receive $100,000. Despite having saved 1,110 animals so far, which is 90 more than the same period last year, as of right now, PACC is in 7th place out of 10 shelters in its division. This weekend could help boost the center up a few spaces and give it a better shot at the grand prize.
