U.S. Rep. Ron Barber (D) will host a meeting to discuss the Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on Border Patrol Operations– today. Please RSVP at AZ02.RSVP@mail.house.gov.

The meeting is 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Pima Communitiy College East Campus, 8181 E. Irvington Rd.

  1. The US southern boarder is patrolled by Predator drones (UAVs), each of which cost American tax payers $20 million dollars. They require several highly trained personnel in sophisticated trailers full of electronics, and billions of dollars in communications satellites orbiting above. To consider the cost of acquiring the hardware, systems and personnel required to operate these drones cheaper than a pilot aloft in a light single engine aircraft (about one 200th the cost of the Predator drone alone) is obviously incorrect.
