Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and allies have been working to overturn Citizens United, the dubious Supreme Court decision that opened the floodgates to let special interest money dominate and corrupt our elections.
Senate Joint Resolution 19 (SJ Res 19) seeks to overturn Citizens United by initiating the Constitutional Amendment process. The proposed amendment would restore the ability to regulate money in our elections.
Thursday, July 10, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on whether or not to send SJ Res 19 onward for a vote before the full Senate. This promises to be an historic breakthrough!
There are four things you can do starting today to help this national coalition effort succeed.
1. Call both of your Senators today at 866-937-7983 and ask them to cosponsor SJ Res 19, if they haven’t already (full details below).

Billionaire bullies like Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Brothers don’t want free and fair elections. They prefer the one-dollar one-vote monstrosity the Supreme Court unleashed.
The new amendment would empower We the People to effectively petition our government officials. We could urge them to pass laws ending corporate spending on elections and limiting runaway election spending. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! The Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and allies are going to initiate the Constitutional Amendment process on an issue as unimportant to the American people as campaign funding?!?!?!? Lot’s of luck with that. I hope they expend a lot of effort (and millions of dollars) in the effort. That would mean they would be wasting their energy, time and money on something that won’t happen, rather than interfering in issues where it might count.

You say it is selling the Country to the highest bidder. I say it is leveling the playing field on fund raising. Democrats are darned good at raising funds, often from questionable sources with dubious agendas. What drives them crazy about this type of funding is they haven’t figured out how to tap into it. If Democrats could figure out how to get their slice of the pie, they would be all for it.
