McCain joins Republican crowd slamming Steele

by David Safier

John McCain, who must hold the record for the most visits to Sunday morning talk shows, tore into Michael Steele.

In an EXCLUSIVE interview on “This Week,” Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., slammed  RNC Chairman Michael Steele for saying that the war in Afghanistan was one of President Obama’s choosing, but stopped short of calling for his resignation.

“I think those statements are wildly inaccurate and there is no excuse for them,” McCain told host Jake Tapper from Kabul, Afghanistan.

“Chairman Steele sent me an email saying that his remarks were misconstrued,” he said. “I think that Mr. Steele is going to have to assess as to whether he can still lead the Republican Party as chairman of the Republican National Committee.”

Just because a guy says Obama started the war in Afghanistan and it's unwinnable, every Republican wants to pile on — McCain and DeMint and Graham and Lieberman. What's that? Lieberman isn't a Republican? Sorry, my bad.

Poor Chairman Steele.

Poor Republicans for being stuck with this albatross.

Happy Democrats, who get to watch Republican stomachs churn at the prospect of getting rid of their affirmative action hire (Yeah, I know, Republicans are against affirmative action, except when it's affirmative political action) and watching more minority votes peel off, or keeping him and watching donations dry up.

Keep up the good work, Michael. Don't let The Man shut you up.
