“The National Park Service turns 100 on August 25, 2016, and we’re inviting visitors of all ages to join in the celebration throughout the month! With special events across the country, and free admission to all 412 national parks from August 25 through August 28, the National Park Service is encouraging everyone to #FindYourPark / #EncuentraTuParque for the centennial!”

For those of us in Arizona, here’s the link to find your park:

https://www.nps.gov/state/az/index.htm. Drop by either Saguaro East or West this weekend since they will both be free.  I hear there’s free birthday cake today starting at 9 a.m.

Perhaps one of my favorites (of course) is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii, where there are two live vents of the volcano erupting. The 2nd one Pu’u O’o just recently in July entered the Pacific Ocean, so public views are available now by hiking into the area, by boat, plane or helicopter.  Some of the views are breathtaking.

Enjoy our national parks.
