Paul Babeu aka Studboi1 running for Congress in CD1

paul-babeu-underwearWhen he’s not trolling the deserts of Pinal County for his next illegal alien boyfriend, Pinal County Sheriff and part-time underwear model Paul Babeu aka Studboi1 is on FAUX News making shit up about child refugees from Central America, Babeu’s media circus: the clowns showed up, but the refugee children did not, and Was the Babeu media circus a misuse of public funds for a political purpose . . . or running for Congress apparently.

The Hill reports this morning, Arizona sheriff launches bid for Congress:

After months of flirting with another congressional bid, Arizona sheriff Paul Babeu tells The Hill he’s officially jumping in the race to replace outgoing Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.).

“I spent a number of years fighting Washington’s inaction. Now it’s time to bring that fight directly to our nation’s capital,” Babeu, the Republican two-term Pinal County sheriff and border-security hawk, said in a phone interview.

Babeu is the third Republican to join the race for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, one of the largest and most competitive districts in the country. Former Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett and wealthy rancher Gary Kiehne are already running.

Arizona state House Speaker David Gowan is taking a look at the race as well.

Former state lawmaker Tom O’Halleran is the only declared candidate on the Democratic side. He served in the statehouse as a Republican and later registered as an independent before announcing this year he was running for Congress as a Democrat.

Babeu, 46, is well known throughout the state. A staunch McCain ally, Babeu helped author the senator’s 10-point border security plan and appeared in McCain’s famous “Complete the Danged Fence” campaign ad in 2010. Cable news outlets frequently turn to him to discuss immigration issues.

But Babeu also carries enormous political baggage into the campaign. During his 2012 bid for Congress, a Mexican immigrant, Jose Orozco, accused the sheriff of threatening to deport him if he revealed their romantic relationship. Orozco also released compromising photos of the conservative sheriff, as well as text messages between them.

Babeu, who came out as gay, was exonerated of any wrongdoing by the state attorney general. He easily won a second term as sheriff in 2012.

“At the end of the day, I want to be judged on my merit, my performance, like every other American. The voters of my county reelected me amidst all that controversy and false allegations,” said Babeu, who pointed out he is the only lawman and military veteran in the race.

“The people here know me,” he added. “Our country, the people and Republicans are far more accepting, and they are not narrow-focused and -minded as people portray them to be.”

Arizona is a key border state that’s seen its share of high-profile immigration battles, and Babeu believes he’d bring an important voice and perspective to Congress.

“This is why you don’t need just another politician to go to Washington,” he said. “We need a sheriff in Washington that understands these issues, that can articulate what’s really happening, and formulate a plan … to secure that border.”

Riiiight. Stephen Lemons of the Phoenix New Times recently summarized the sordid history of this contemptible and corrupt county sheriff (check out the photo history) in Paul Babeu’s Dark Money Group Is All About…Paul Babeu:

So here’s a giant surprise, Pinal County Sheriff and unannounced candidate for U.S. Congress Paul Babeu is the “honorary chairman,” of a dark money, 501(c)4 non-profit that is pimping….yes, you guessed it, Paul Babeu.

Babeu’s new Arizona Security and Prosperity Project’s website promises that the group will pursue “public advocacy for enhanced border security, economic strength and individual liberty,” and that, in so doing, the group “will be non-partisan, and will not advocate the election or defeat of any identified candidate for public office.”

[H]is national “Paul Babeu for America PAC” has almost no cash to speak of.

Additionally, Babeu’s state PAC had around $9,400 as of December 2014. And his “Paul Babeu for Sheriff” committee had about $25,000 during the same reporting period.

And yet, the ASPP brazenly shills for Babeu, who has all but jumped into the fray in the GOP primary for Arizona’s First Congressional District.

Which begs the question: Who will give money to a Mexican-bashing candidate whose affair with Jose Orozco, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, was exposed in 2012 when Orozco went public with allegations that he was threatened with deportation if he did not keep quiet about Babeu’s being gay?

Though it’s been three years since those revelations forced Babeu out of the race for Congress in Arizona’s Fourth Congressional District, Babeu’s ex-boyfriend, the raunchy e-mails between the two, and photos of Babeu in various states of undress are still around, as are screenshots of Babeu’s profile on the explicit, gay hookup site Adam4Adam.com, where he went by the handle “studboi1” and boasted of his manhood being, “7′ cut.”

But Babeu’s ASPP affords him the opportunity to campaign without looking like he’s campaigning, and to raise money for a “social welfare” organization that, in reality, mostly promotes Babeu.

The site even boasts an upcoming tele-town hall, which it says GOP presidential candidates Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina have committed to, though all candidates are invited to participate.

Carson recently received a presentation on border security from Babeu (whose county is not on the border, by the way), after which Carson suggested that drones be used to take out cartel members on American soil.

The degree to which Babeu can snooker presidential candidates into appearing with him or participating in ASPP events will assist with fundraising and help make Babeu look more like an option for the Republicans in the CD1 GOP primary, which currently includes former Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett and Gary Kiehne, an Arizona rancher with deep pockets.

It’s obvious that ASPP is a tool for Babeu’s naked ambition. Hopefully, CD1 voters will see this snake coming.

The media villagers seem to have developed amnesia about the DeSisto School boarding school in Stockbridge, Massachusetts where Babeu was headmaster before moving to Arizona. Child abuse scandal in Sheriff Paul Babeu’s past, and (Update) Child abuse scandal in Sheriff Paul Babeu’s past.

There was a time in this country that these kinds of scandals would preclude someone like Paul Babeu from even considering running for a political office. It is no longer a deterrent for the truly shameless today.

Wow! A blast of homophobia right from the start! Followed by disgust filled references to his “gay behavior”. I never imagined you could be so honest…
