Tucson Weekly endorses attorney Paul Durham for Ward 3 Council seat

The Tucson Weekly issued their endorsement today in the contested Democratic primary for the Ward 3 Council seat.  Councilwoman Karin Uhlich is stepping down after 3 terms.  The Weekly endorsed retired attorney Paul Durham, former Chief of Staff for Ward 6 Councilwoman Nina Trasoff.

Watch Tucson City Council primary election candidates on AZPM

AZPM PBS 6 Metro Week Show on Aug. 4, 2017 interviewed the 3 Democrats running for Ward 3,  and 2 Green Party candidates running for Ward 6 in the City of Tucson Council elections.  The 3 Democrats are Felicia Chew, Paul Durham, Tom Tronsdal. The winner in the Ward 6  GP primary faces off with incumbent 2 term Councilman Steve Kozachik, a Democrat and a Republican challenger Mariano Rodriguez.

Ward 3 Democratic Candidates Forum at Literary Connects

Check our online Calendar for additional forums to learn more about the 3 Democrats running in the August 29 primary, for the Ward 3 Council seat.  So far three more are scheduled for August 2 (Hispanic Chamber of Commerce/Az Daily Star), Aug. 5 (Equity Forum), and Aug. 9 (Sustainable Tucson).

The Dem winner will face off with Independent Gary Watson in the General Election on Nov. 7, 2017.  There is no Republican candidate in this Ward 3 race.

Vote wisely on or before August 29, 2017.

Host Jim Nintzel moderated a forum on his TV show Zona Politics, with all 3 Democratic Tucson City Council candidates running in the Ward 3 primary. The 3 candidates are Felicia Chew (middle school teacher), Paul Durham (retired attorney), Tom Tronsdal (business owner).

Listen to Ward 3 Democratic City Council candidates on Buckmaster Show

If you live in Ward 3 of the City of Tucson and vote Democratic, you will be receiving a ballot for the upcoming primary for the Council seat, being vacated by 3 term Councilwoman Karin Uhlich.  Three Democrats are running — Felicia Chew, a teacher at Mansfeld Middle School; Paul Durham, former Chief of Staff for Ward 6 Councilwoman Nina Trasoff and a retired attorney; Tom Tronsdal, owner of Canyon Fence Company and also an attorney.  They will face off with Independent Gary Watson, employee at NW Fire Dept. in the General Election. (There is no Republican candidate running for this open seat.)

On July 12, all 3 Dems were in studio for a radio forum on the Bill Buckmaster Show (AM 1030 KVOI), airing 12 noon to 1 p.m.  Here’s the broadcast of the forum:

Council candidates for 2017 City of Tucson primary election

May 31, 2017 was the deadline for the filing of those who will be running for Ward 3, 5 and 6 in the City of Tucson Council races. There will be a Democratic primary in Ward 3  and a Green Party primary in Ward 6, as the other candidates are unopposed in their primaries.  Councilman Richard Fimbres faces no opposition at all for his seat in Ward 5.
