The push for organized recess continues

by David Safier

Steve Gall reports on the latest round in his push to have daily, organized physical activity in Arizona's schools. The latest legislative try didn't even get a hearing, and Steve was upset at the Arizona School Board Association (ASBA) for not responding to requests for a meeting. Since then, he has had a chance to meet with the ASBA and find a possible middle ground. From Steve Gall:

Senator Farley and I finally met with Janice Palmer of the ASBA after several tries and misunderstandings to discuss our K-5 daily physical activity bill. Although the ASBA will not support the bill, they are willing  to work with me around the state to promote the idea. Janice Palmer  was very cooperative and presented some wonderful ideas to inform the school districts about the benefit of daily exercise.
