Update: Corporate Media Bias in Healthcare Reporting – Shock! (Not)

The corproate media continues to focus on the two outlier decisions by conservative activist judges while largely failig to report decisions in favor of the Affordable Care Act.

Case in point, the New York Times today reported that Va. to Ask Supreme Court to Rule on Health Law, but somehow failed to report that Mississippi judge dismisses case against health reform law – POLITICO.com:

A federal judge in Mississippi on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit that challenged the constitutionality of the health care law, handing the Obama administration a small victory.

Ten individuals without health insurance argued that the law’s requirement to buy insurance violated their rights. One of the plaintiffs is Mississippi Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant.

Judge Keith Starrett said the individuals didn’t prove they have proper standing to challenge the law because they didn’t prove the mandate would apply to them. The suit was thrown out on procedural grounds.

About two dozen lawsuits have been filed against the health care reform law since it was passed in March. Thirteen have now been thrown out over procedural matters such as a right to bring the suit.

Only four judges have ruled on the constitutionality of the law. Two have upheld the legislation. Two have struck down the individual mandate – the requirement that nearly all Americans have to buy health insurance.

So much for the "librul media."
