Walk with Mayor Rothschild on Turquoise Trail

Now that the SW desert weather has cooled down a bit, join me in walking with Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild on a 2.5 mile route around downtown Tucson. Plus there’s refreshments later at the lovely La Cocina, 201 N. Court Ave in the Old Town Artisans building.

From the Mayor’s press release:

Meeting at the Presidio, located on Washington St. between Church and Court Avenues in downtown Tucson, participants will walk the 2.5 mile loop known as the Turquoise Trail past a number of Tucson landmarks, including the Pima County Courthouse, the Gazebo in La Placita, El Tiradito and more. Participants will receive a T-shirt (while supplies last) and water and, after the walk, are welcome to join the mayor at La Cocina for refreshments.

“Walking is great exercise and it’s fun to be a ‘tourist’ in your own city,” said Mayor Rothschild. “I encourage Tucsonans of all ages to join me for this pleasant walk that takes in some of our historic sights.”

Invite your friends to exercise & walk with the Mayor. Let’s get moving, Tucson.

  1. About 70 intrepid walkers joined the Mayor and historians Gayle Hartmann and Margie Cunningham on this early walk this a.m. It took 1 1/2 hours to cover the sights of the Turquoise Trail through downtown Tucson. We saw 2 Rio Nuevo projects, the Presidio itself and also the renovated Fox Theatre on Congress St.
Pick up a brochure at the Presidio to see the 23 plus sites yourself.
