If you haven’t been to this annual art show, you obviously have missed a lot in Tucson. It is a wildly popular, fun-filled two nights, with lots of very, very creative bike themed art — many made from recycled bicycle parts. Bidding is fast & furious and some pieces sell for hundreds of dollars. You can register online early for a bid number at:

www.bicas.org.

BICAS (Bicycle Inter-Community Art & Salvage) invites you to the 20th Annual Art Auction this December 4th and 5th. You’ll find bicycle-themed artwork, music and family fun at this free two-day event. The proceeds support your favorite Tucson bicycle recycling and education center.
The event will be held at The Art Gallery 1122 N Stone Ave, 85705. Look for the big “TUCSON” mural on the NE corner of Stone and Speedway. The auction begins with the preview festivities held on Friday December 4th (6-10pm). Early bidding takes place Saturday from 11am-4pm; and you won’t want to miss the silent auction to be held Saturday December 5th, from 6-9pm. Plenty of bike parking so ride your bike!
The art auction brings together Tucson’s favorite artists, cyclists, and art lovers to view and bid on 100s of unique bicycle-themed metal art, sculptures, paintings, photography, quilts, printmaking, fiber arts, illustrations, ceramics, and many other innovative mediums all handcrafted and donated by local artists.

Both nights will feature live music, family friendly entertainment, kid’s activities, food trucks with gluten-free and vegan options, awesome holiday gifts for all and Dragoon Brewing’s infamous BICAS Brown, English-style brown ale. Also, don’t miss Saturday night’s puppet show at 7pm.

BICAS has evolved to become a Tucson mainstay where, through advocacy and recycling of the bicycle, we promote education, art, and a healthy environment, as well as continuing to provide the bicycle as a mode of transportation to all members of the Tucson community. The organization started in late 1989 as an organization called Bootstraps to Share to assist and empower the homeless population in Tucson.

BICAS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The auction is one of the biggest fundraising events for BICAS. For more information, please visit the website (www.bicas.org/art-auction/) before the event.

  1. Preview night tonight at this usual but unusual bike themed art show. Lots of people there to check out this year’s creative creations by Troy Neiman, Eric Bang, Gavin Troy, etc. I loved Eric Bang’s lamps and tables & chairs this year. There are also artful jewelry, clothing, bathroom fixtures, pictures/wall hangings, sculptures, trash cans, etc. Silent auction tomorrow so get there early to figure out what you want. Good luck.
