9th Circuit Court of Appeals to hear same-sex marriage appeals on Monday

Media advisory from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals:

EqualLive Video Streaming of Oral Arguments in Gay Marriage Cases

On September 8, 2014, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will hear oral arguments in the Hawaii, Idaho and Nevada gay marriage cases.  The arguments will begin at 1 p.m. in Courtroom One of the James R. Browning U.S. Courthouse, 95 7th St., San Francisco.

The court strongly encourages interested persons to use the Internet to watch the oral arguments via live video streaming from the courtroom.  To access the stream, visit the court website – www.ca9.uscourts.gov – and click on the link under the beige-colored bar labeled “Live Oral Arguments.”  Streaming will commence a few minutes prior to the start of the proceedings.

Public seating in Courtroom One will be extremely limited and likely to be quickly filled.  Those unable to get a courtroom seat will be able to watch live video in viewing areas elsewhere in the building.  This will be the same video streamed to Internet viewers.

Thank you.

WATCH PARTY: 9th Circuit oral arguments

Monday is the big day: at noon MST, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in landmark cases challenging Nevada and Idaho’s marriage bans.

Because Arizona is one of 7 states under the 9th Circuit’s jurisdictions, what happens on Monday may very well determine the future of marriage equality here at home—so you’ll want to pay attention.

That’s why on Monday, we’re teaming up with the Phoenix Pride Center to host a Watch Party of 9th Circuit oral arguments. See the details below and then RSVP!

  1. The headline says it all: “Report 103: After the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit hears oral arguments against the bans (on 8 September 2014), it will probably rule against them unanimously.”

For the reasons, see the report in “Equal Human Rights and Civil Rights for All Persons, No Matter Their Gender, No Matter Their Sexual Orientation: An Interpretive Newsletter” (available at http://www.humciv.com).

  2. Agree with Steve on this…Needs to happen and be the law of the land, otherwise it’s just discrimination.

Meanie..this is O/T but mighty important. Hope that you can do a piece about this…bet you not many people know what Tobin and other Republicans think is a good idea!

After a very close election that wasn’t decided until a week after polls closed, State Representative Andy Tobin (R) secured the Republican nomination for the Arizona’s competitive 1st Congressional District Tuesday, narrowly defeating two other GOP candidates by under 400 votes. Tobin, who attracted national Republican attention in the last weeks of his primary campaign, will now face Democratic Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick in November.

With his win, Tobin joins the ranks of a dozen other candidates for federal office, and several current members of Congress, who agree with outlaw Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy that America’s public lands should be seized by the states or sold off to the highest bidder for drilling, mining, and logging. Bundy, who incited a dangerous standoff with federal officials in April, notoriously refuses to acknowledge the government’s authority, including over public lands.

  3. I hope these cases will settle the issue and make same sex marriage the law. It is time for it to happen. This is an example of where they kept their eyes on the prize and they are close to seeing it happen.
