A Milestone of Sorts: 600 Posts

One the most memorable lines ever from televised debates was this, from Lloyd Bentsen in the 1988 Vice-Presidential debate:

Senator, I served with Jack Kennedy. I knew Jack Kennedy. Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine. Senator, you’re no Jack Kennedy.

In the little world of Arizona blogging, the analogy to that famous line would go something like this:

I blogged with David Safier. I knew David Safier. David Safier was a giant. Bob Lord, you’re no David Safier.

David, at the time he left Blog for Arizona, had authored several thousand posts. The great majority of those posts were original material, well written, and thought-provoking. In the world of Arizona blogging he’s a giant.

Nonetheless, I’m here to report that this is my 600th post at Blog for Arizona. I discovered this by accident, because I had to locate a post from last year, and noticed the total number of posts (599) as I was doing my search.

That piqued my curiosity, so I checked to see which one was most widely read. The winner? This will come as a surprise to no one: Does ANYONE Actually Like John Huppenthal? That was the last we heard from Thucky in the comment section, although I suspect he’s been with us since, but under a different name. Maybe he’ll say hello in the comment section of this one, you know, to congratulate me.

I wanted to look up which post was most widely commented on, but couldn’t figure out how to do that without opening each one. My guess would be a post I wrote early on, entitled In Defense of Newt, which generated a barrage of comments, the great majority from women, none being what we would call a “supportive comment.” I think Donna accused me of mansplaining. Too bad Steve wasn’t around back then.

Anyhow, it’s been a great ride for these three years and change. If you all will keep reading and commenting, I’ll keep banging away on the keyboard.
