First, there was General Michael Flynn but he committed criminal acts and he had to leave the National Security Advisor position less than a month after Individual One’s Administration started.
General H.R. McMaster served the remainder of 2017 and into 2018, offering skilled service. He left in the winter of 2018 after reported policy differences with the President and personality clashes with fellow Generals (who are also no longer with the Administration) Mattis and Kelly.
Then ultra interventionist John Bolton, after making a favorable impression to Fox News number one viewer while serving as a guest pundit, became the National Security Advisor.
This arrangement ended today (September 10, 2019) after policy differences forced a parting of the ways via Twitter (although whether Bolton resigned or was fired is being dueled in the twitter-verse by both men.)
If you count former General Keith Kellogg who served as the acting National Security Advisor between the appointments of Flynn and McMaster, this Administration has had four NSC advisors in less than three years.
A Twenty-Something Shift Manager at a McDonalds or Dominos Pizza lasts longer than a National Security Advisor for Donald Trump.
What makes this worse is that this President has put hiring sycophants and yesmen with reactionary agendas a larger priority than retaining the services of actual competent public servants.
There is also the problem, according to CNN, that there are still 260 out of 713 Executive Branch vacancies. A third of the State Department executive staffing positions are vacant.
This is no way to run a government. This would be no way to run a business.
People should read Michael Lewis’ book The Fifth Risk to see how widespread this stench of incompetence is.
Any White House needs competent individuals to occupy posts for more than a year and do the People’s business.
This Administration can not even fulfill this most basic function.
It is yet another reason serious leaders in the Executive and Legislative Branch should consider invoking the 25th Amendment or Impeachment.
This country would be better off and safer with reactionary President Pence until January 2021 then allowing Individual One to remain at the helm.

Of course, in his career McCain advocated bombing or invading at least 24 different countries. Look it up.
