Arizona’s insane dentist charges FBI with ‘treason’ (Updated)

Now that Arizona’s most embarrassing member of Congress, Rep. Trent Franks, has resigned in disgrace after soliciting his female staff members to be his sex surrogate (Eeew!), we have a new challenger for the title of Arizona’s most embarrassing member of Congress: Arizona’s insane dentist, Rep. Paul Gosar.

If you follow Rep. Gosar’s Twitter feed — and if you do, I have to ask “what in God’s name compels you to do this?” — you will have noticed that the insane dentist has been completely off the rails of late. Paul Gosar calls for ‘dreamers’ to be arrested, deported at State of the Union speech.

But with the release of the Nunes Memo today, the insane dentist really has topped his insane Twitter rants.

POLITICO reports, GOP lawmaker calls for FBI, DOJ officials to face ‘treason’ charges:

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) said on Friday that the House intelligence memo on alleged FBI malfeasance showed “clear and convincing evidence of treason” by law enforcement officials, despite lingering concerns in the intelligence community over its credibility.

Gosar, in a statement, blasted the FBI’s use of a surveillance warrant to gather information about a former Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page. The Arizona lawmaker cited the document in accusing former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates and current Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein of breaking the law.

“The full-throated adoption of this illegal misconduct and abuse of FISA by James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Sally Yates and Rod Rosenstein is not just criminal but constitutes treason,” Gosar wrote in a statement.

Gosar said he would urge Attorney General Jeff Sessions to seek “criminal prosecution against these traitors to our nation.”

Treason under the Constitution is punishable by death.

Maybe its time for the guys in the white coats with a butterfly net to pay a visit to Arizona’s insane dentist to take him away to the asylum for his own good.

UPDATE: I missed this incident recounted by Jen Hayden at Daily Kos:

[Rep. Gosar] appeared in an interview with Vice News and floated an absolutely bonkers and heinously racist theory about Democratic donor George Soros, a favorite boogeyman of the fringe right. Gosar’s views were so offensive, his seven siblings penned an open letter to denounce him:

Our parents are 87 and 83 and we would be outraged if some sleaze did to them what Paul shamelessly did to Mr. Soros.  First, Paul confabulated horrendous lies about Soros as a young boy who survived the Holocaust, and followed it with invented notions that Soros was behind the Charlottesville Nazis.  Paul’s deceit was uttered without a shred of evidence.

Those aren’t our family values or the values of the small Wyoming town we grew up in. Character assassination wasn’t revered. Lies and distortions do reveal much about the character of the congressman of Arizona’s 4th congressional district, however.

Paul Gosar’s family has denounced him. Arizona’s voters should follow their lead.

UPDATE: Hispanic Dems seek vote to condemn GOP lawmaker for demanding arrests of ‘Dreamers’:

The leader of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on Monday sought a House vote to formally condemn Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) for urging the Capitol Police to arrest immigrants without legal status who were guests of lawmakers at last week’s State of the Union address.

Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-N.M.), the caucus chairwoman, offered a resolution on the floor that condemns Gosar for “inappropriate actions that intimidated State of the Union guests and discredited the U.S. House of Representatives.”

The resolution states that Gosar “abused his power in an attempt to interfere with and politicize the U.S. Capitol Police’s efforts to provide for a safe, secure, and open environment during the State of the Union” and violated rules requiring all members to behave in a manner reflecting “creditably” on the House.

Under House rules, any member can bring up a “privileged” resolution raising questions regarding the dignity and integrity of chamber proceedings. Lujan Grisham used that process for her resolution to condemn Gosar, which must, under House procedures, receive legislative action within two days.

It’s likely that GOP leaders would move to table the resolution, but the Congressional Hispanic Caucus would still be able to force a procedural vote.

Democrats blasted Gosar last week for his actions, as did with two Republicans who have centrist views on immigration policy.

“Oh my goodness, RepGosar. Dreamers don’t pose a threat to us. This is so drastic and cruel. Dios mío,” Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) tweeted.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) wrote: “This is why we can’t have nice things…”

UPDATE: So the GOP is OK with racists. Good to know. House blocks effort to condemn Gosar for immigrant arrest tweet:

A resolution was blocked by the U.S. House on Tuesday that would have condemned Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar’s call for any illegal immigrant attending the State of the Union to be arrested.

The vote was 231-187 to kill the resolution.

The resolution was brought forward by Democratic Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico, who argued that her Republican colleague from Arizona had abused his power and attempted to interfere with U.S. Capitol Police’s efforts to provide a secure environment.

Grisham, the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, said Gosar’s remarks “intimidated” guests and “discredited” the House.

In a tweet, Gosar blasted Grisham and said he would not be intimidated.

“I have a First Amendment right to speak out against their advocacy for criminals, gang members, drug dealers, human traffickers and simple run-of-the-mill lawbreakers who have violated our immigration laws,” he said in a lengthy statement.

An unrepetant racist to the end.

  1. Why does Arizona elect these bozos? There seems to be an unlimited supply. Ward and Arpaio among them.

  2. Why us? Why do we always get he lunatics? Of course you do know Representative Cobb of the Arizona House and looney Gosar are buds from the Dental Association, both dentists. When you talk to Gosar in person, everything is a talking point, nothing seems to thoughtful.

  3. Accuse the other side what you yourself are guilty of, a play out of the Hitler manual. Sorry, not falling for it and neither will the majority of Americans.
