Beat Back Bufflegrass Day & After party on Jan. 24

I keep seeing those posters about “Bufflegrass is a wildlife waiting to happen”. Don’t let this happen, so please volunteer to beat back/take out the bufflegrass at Saguaro National Park West on Jan. 24.  Here’s info from their FB page:

2015 Saguaro National Park West – Red Hills Visitor Center
Saguaro National Park has a patch of Buffelgrass near the intersection of Manville and Sanders Rd. Please join us as we manually remove the patch. Tools and gloves will be provided.

Kids age 12 years and over are welcome to participate, if accompanied by parent or guardian.

Date and Time: Saturday, January 24, 2015 – 8:00am



Maximum Number of Participants: 30

Level of Difficulty: 1 – Easy
Directions:
Take Speedway Blvd West until it turns into Gates Pass. Take this over the Tucson Mountains. Make a Right onto Kinney Rd. Follow the signs towaard Saguaro National Park. We will be meeting at the Red Hills Visitor Center located at 2700 N Kinney Rd, Tucson, AZ 85743. We will then carpool to the work site. there will be BeatBackBuffelgrass Day posters at the entrance to the visitor center. Parking is limited, so carpooling is highly encouraged.

What To Bring:
Bring a small day pack, water, and a snack.
What to Wear:

Long sleeved shirts, closed toed shoes, hat, sunscreen, rain gear if it looks like it might be needed.

Additional Information:
There will be a short hike off the trail to the work site and the terrain is relatively flat with some shallow washes. Many cacti are at the work site so sturdy hiking boots are strongly recommended. Kids age 12 years and over are welcome to participate, if accompanied by parent or guardian.
