Kimonos made with exceptional skill from fine materials have long been regarded as great works of textile art, often hand painted, embroidered, or brocaded and sometimes costing thousands of dollars. Join us to view nearly two dozen examples of the traditional Japanese robe, ornamented with beautiful painterly designs.
This exhibition runs from Oct. 1 to Nov. 23 and admission to it is included with entrance to the Gardens. Accompanying the exhibition is a permanent display of 19th-century woodblock prints depicting scenes of daily life in pre-modern Japan.
Yume Japanese Gardens www.tucsonjapanesegardens.org, has been closed for the summer, located at 2130 N. Alvernon Way (south of Tucson Botanical Gardens).
A free reception to open this lovely kimono and woodblock print exhibit is tonight, 5 to 7 p.m. at the gardens.

About 20 people there tonight to view these exquisite kimono and obi (sashes) as well as slippers/geta, and about 20 wood block prints, and other Japanese art objects in the newly remodeled house in the front. New entrance to the Japanese gardens through this gift shop/exhibit hall. Exhibit runs through Nov. 23.
