January Topic: Building Latinx Power for a Healthier Environment. Latinx and communities of color are disproportionately exposed to pollution and toxins on the job, at school, and in homes. Often the first and worst hit by the effects of climate change, it’s no surprise that people of color are also some of the strongest advocates for climate action, strongly advocating for and supporting government action to protect la Madre Tierra.
Laura (Jimena) Dent, Executive Director of CHISPA Arizona, tells us how the activist organization is building political power for a cleaner, healthier state. She will describe CHISPA’s electoral strategies for the recent campaign cycle in support of environmental justice candidates.
