“Last year many of our participants suggested that each event sing the same song as a show of unity. The band “The Alternate Routes” has given us permission to use their song “Nothing More” as part of the Concert Across America 2017, as long as it is not politicized. Steve Kozachik will be singing the song at the event.”

Hosted by Aspen Green[%7B%22mechanism%22%3A%22bookmarks%22%2C%22surface%22%3A%22bookmarks_menu%22%2C%22extra_data%22%3A%22[]%22%7D%2C%7B%22surface%22%3A%22dashboard%22%2C%22mechanism%22%3A%22calendar_tab_event%22%2C%22extra_data%22%3A%22[]%22%7D]%2C%22ref%22%3A46%2C%22source%22%3A2%7D

3 responses to “Concert Across America to End Gun Violence

  1. From FB photos of Aspen Green: also attending yesterday were 1/18/11 survivors Daniel Hernandez Jr. (now LD 2 House Rep.), and Pam Simon, as well as Roxanna Green – mother of victim Christina Taylor-Green, and Mayor Jonathan Rothschild.

  2. 40 people in attendance at this concert hosted by Moms Demand Action and Be Smart for Kids, advocating against gun violence and background checks/safety locks for guns. Former CD 8/CD 2 Congressman (and 1/8/11 survivor) Ron Barber spoke for background checks at Congress and state level, and former AZ House member Victoria Steele said that the gun lobby was encouraging women to buy guns as protection, which had not worked for her after she was robbed in a TV station parking lot. Singing Councilman Steve K sang “Nothing More”, then “Desperado, Something Happening Here; Give Peace a Chance, Heaven’s Door, If I Die Young” (for Justice for Genna audience members), several other songs, then “Imagine” . He wore tshirt of Justice for Genna group for 27 year old Genna Ayup, shot in the head in June 2012 by allegedly drunk boyfriend Ronald James Corbin Jr. in front of their then-2 year old son. Custody fight ensuring, as Corbin was never charged criminally with her death. Also present today Patricia Maisch, survivor from 1/8/11 shooting and Emily Nothingham, mother of Congressional staffer Gabe Zimmerman, killed that day. Drop by concert, till 9 p.m. tonight.

  3. Updated event flyer with different musicians. Don’t miss hearing Councilman Steve K sing “Nothing More”. Today at 1:30 p.m.
