Joshua Polacheck
“Joshua grew up across the rural West, the son of an immigrant mother and a father in the Indian Health Service. His middle and high school years were spent here in Tucson. After college, he joined the U.S. Department of State, where he served for almost twenty years. As a third generation commissioned officer, Joshua’s tours included Mosul in northern Iraq, Pakistan, Lebanon, Zimbabwe, and the Dominican Republic.
In 2018, he returned home to Arizona to look after his widowed father. Joshua has seen first hand the struggles of Arizona families and has been involved in fighting for the common good ever since. He is running because we need to act now to secure Arizona’s future for all our families.
Ylenia Aguilar
Ylenia was born in Mexico and raised in Arizona and rural Illinois. She has served as a Governing Board Member in the Osborn School District, Vitalyst Health Foundation Board of Trustees, and Hispanics Enjoying Camping, Hunting, and the Outdoors (HECHO) Advisory Council. She currently serves as a member of the Central Arizona Water Conservation District.
Ylenia is the Business Development Manager with Gybe, a water analytics company leveraging satellites, sensors, and predictive modeling to help organizations optimize watershed health. Gybe puts the power of precision freshwater intelligence in the hands of managers across the world working to secure every community’s sustainable access to clean, life-giving water.
Jonathon Hill
Jonathon was born in Kingman and raised in Phoenix. He has lived, studied and worked in Tempe since 2000.
Passionate about space exploration since childhood, Jonathon earned degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Geological Sciences and Russian from ASU, culminating in the defense of his PhD in Spring 2022.
For the past 17 years, Jonathon has worked as an engineer and scientist at the ASU Mars Space Flight Facility. He has also provided engineering and scientific support to the University of Arizona’s OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission and NASA’s Clipper mission.
Jonathon is running for the AZ Corporation Commission because he believes the commission needs members with technical backgrounds in order to successfully regulate Arizona’s utilities.
Dustin Williams
Dustin Williams is a lifelong Tucsonan. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona and has a masters in education from Northern Arizona University. He has taught in both elementary and middle schools, and served as Assistant Director of Ha:san Preparatory & Leadership School, a Native American charter school. He was first elected as Pima County Superintendent of Schools in 2016, was re-elected in 2020, and is now running for re-election in 2024.”

Carolyn’s note: the 3 Dem candidates for AZ Corporation Commission are running for 3 seats, so it’s uncontested in the AZ Primary on July 30, 2024. But they will face off with 3 Republican nominees in the General Election. 2 term Pima County School Superintendent Dustin Williams has no opposition in the Primary or General elections in 2024.
