Featuring special guest Actress Martha Plimpton and
    Honorary Chair Councilwoman Regina Romero

    Martha Plimpton

Martha Plimpton is an accomplished and Award-winning actress who has achieved success across stage, screen and television. Her work in the television includes the series Raising Hope for which she was nominated for an Emmy® Award for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series” and twice for a Critics’ Choice Television Award for “Best Actress in a Comedy.” She is also set to star in the forthcoming “The Real O’Neal’s.”

Regina RomeroTucson Councilwoman Regina Romero has enthusiastically agreed to serve as our Honorary Chair. She is the youngest of 6 children born to immigrant parents and was the first member of her family to vote and graduate from college.  Romero achieved two more firsts in 2007 when she became the first Latina elected to the Tucson City Council and the first woman to represent Tucson’s historic Ward 1.  Romero has dedicated her life to pursuing justice and improving the world around her and is a pro-child, pro-family and pro-choice mother of two.

We are please to honor the Sunnyside Unified School District at the luncheon. This past year the district decided to launch comprehensive, medically accurate sexual health education. The district will achieve this with the help of a coalition led by Tucson-based Child & Family Resources, in partnership with Planned Parenthood and Teen Outreach Pregnancy Services.  This advance will help Sunnyside students avoid unintended pregnancy, premature parenting and the resulting risk of school dropout. Planned Parenthood is pleased to honor them at this year’s lunch and hope that other districts across the state will join them in bringing this important curriculum to their students.
