 Corin Hammond

“Although I am 30 years old, I am no stranger to hard work or success. I started working at age 11 cleaning houses and performing yard work in Oregon. I studied hard and earned scholarships that allowed me to pursue a college degree. I earned a chemistry degree on a full-tuition scholarship from Louisiana State University with Upper Division Honors. I earned a master’s degree in inorganic chemistry from the University of Arizona on fellowship and I am finishing a Ph.D. in soil and water geochemistry at the University of Arizona with a number of awards and scholarships under my belt.”

  1. Corin is an Env. scientist working in soil/water chemistry with emphasis on mine waste reclamation. Her 3 top topics in her LD 11 campaign are quality, affordable education; civil rights; and stimulating the economy for better jobs. She talked about the “brain drain” of young adults from Arizona, and the state legislature’s budget cuts to K-12 and the universities. Questions from the audience were about state banking, climate change, corporate income tax cuts, Prop. 123, how to promote herself to moderate Rs and Independents, Saddlebrooke residents, immigrant issues, guns at the Arizona legislature, how to reach young people in the political process.
