    Carolyn’s note:  that means LDs 2, 3, 9, 10, 11 and 14 in Pima County. Candidates running so far (one Senate seat in each LD):

    LD 2: Senator Andrea Dalessandro (incumbent)

    LD 3: Rep. Sally Gonzales vs.Betty Villegas

    LD 9: Jim Love vs. Victoria Steele (former House  Rep.)

    LD 10: Senator David Bradley (incumbent)

    LD 11: Ralph Atchue

    LD 14:  Mendy Gomez (unable to attend, had prior commitment)

    Carolyn Classen
    Carolyn Sugiyama Classen, a life long Democrat, was born & raised in the State of Hawaii, was a Legislative Aide for U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye on Capitol Hill, and practiced law for a while. In Tucson she worked as a tribal staff attorney for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and later was the Interim Executive Director of the now defunct Domestic Violence Commission. In 2008 she became a “My Tucson” guest columnist for the Tucson Citizen newspaper, then continued blogging for for over four and a half years. Her blogsite was entitled “Carolyn’s Community” about community events and some political news, until Gannett Publishing shut down the site on January 31, 2014. She started with Blog for Arizona on Feb. 11, 2014. Part time she has been sitting as a Hearing Officer in Pima County Consolidated Justice Courts Small Claims Division since April, 2005. She is married to University of Arizona Distinguished Professor Albrecht Classen, a native of Germany. They have one son, who lives in Seattle, WA with his wife and daughter. She is also the Editor of the Southern Arizona Japanese Cultural Coalition website, (since Jan. 2013).


    1. All Senate candidates were there tonight except for Jim Love, candidate in LD 9. Chair Pima County Supervisor Richard Elias moderated the panel and after introductions, they all had to answer questions – What can you do to stand up against Trump Administration? Do you support the citizen’s initiative to tax the highest earners for education $? What tax credits would you eliminate to raise additional revenue? and What can the legislature do regarding sexual harassment in the workplace? Also attending tonight: U.S. Senate candidate Shawn Redd (a Navajo), CD 2 candidate Mary Matiella, State Senator Olivia Cajero Bedford (running for State House in LD 3), Andres Cano for House in LD 3, Rep. Pam Powers Hannley of LD 9, Domingo DeGrazia candidate for House in LD 10, Adam Ragan, TUSD Bd. candidate.
