Spoke with presenter Pam Simon yesterday at the March for Our Lives rally, and she showed LD 9 House candidate JP Martin and me where she was shot on Jan. 8, 2011. She still has residual pain from the shooting area in her torso, as her body “remembers” the trauma. Is the NRA listening? The stronger solution to gun violence is to strongly limit access to guns in America. Attend this forum to hear from survivor Pam and the mother of
Congressional aide Gabe, who died on the sidewalk in front of that Safeway.

    • Good point. The people who are often forgotten in these discussions about gun violence, mass shootings, etc… are the ones who survive with life changing disabilities. Gabrielle Giffords has certainly given those survivors a public face, but there still isn’t nearly enough emphasis on the physical suffering endured by many survivors for the remainder of their lives.

Yes, Gabby was almost assassinated and victims Suzi Hileman, Ron Barber, Gabby, all suffer from trauma and wounds associated with that Tucson mass shooting. Yet almost nothing has been done since then, which LD 2 House Rep. Daniel Hernandez Jr. (also a survivor of that shooting) said at the March for Our Lives rally yesterday. Guns are still too readily accessible to mentally ill men.
