“Suzanne Gordon is an award winning journalist. She is the author of The Battle for Veterans Healthcare: Dispatches from the Frontlines of Policy Making and Patient Care. Her latest book is Wounds of War: How the VA Delivers Health, Healing, and Hope to the Nation’s Veterans.
Ms. Gordon has written for the New York Times, LA Times, Washington Monthly, American Prospect, and the Journal of the American Medical Association and BMH among others. She is the Senior Policy Fellow at the Veterans Healthcare Policy Institute and a recipient of the DAV Special Recognition Award. Suzanne will discuss the impact of VA privatization on veterans health.
Then, straight from the halls of Congress, Rep. Raul Grijalva will give us an insider’s view of political and business forces that have pushed for VA privatization.
Lastly, Ryan Mims, Legislative & Political Organizer, American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) will outline the classic union busting attitudes and strategies at work in the privatization of a public institution.
