SUMMARY:Making Votes Count: Pima County Preparations for the 2026 Midterms
DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\nWhen\n\n\n\n6 – 7:30 p.m.\, Aug. 31\, 2026eventAdd to Calendar \n\n\n\nWhere\n\n\n\nENR2 Building\, Room S107 \n\n\n\nRegister For The In-Person Event      Register For The Webinar Event\n\n\n\nAudience: This event is free and open to all- including the public\, alumni\, students\, and employees.\n\n\n\n“Making Votes Count: Pima County Preparations for the 2026 Midterms \n\n\n\nDespite widespread expert consensus that fraud is rare in U.S. elections\, the 2026 midterms arrive amid unprecedented scrutiny of election procedures and ballot counting — particularly in competitive states like Arizona. The Department of Justice is currently locked in a court battle over access to Arizona’s voter registration records\, and the FBI has sought records related to Maricopa County’s 2020 election results. Meanwhile\, polls show that large numbers of Americans worry that noncitizens will participate in the upcoming election and that their votes will not be counted fairly. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a conversation with Pima County Recorder Gabriella Cazares-Kelly\, Pima County Supervisor Rex Scott and Pima County Elections Office Director Constance Hargrove as they discuss how their offices are preparing for November\, what safeguards are in place to ensure a fair and accurate count\, and how they are thinking about public trust in the electoral process. The event will be moderated by Paul Schuler\, Associate Professor at the University of Arizona. \n\n\n\nA question & answer session will follow the presentations. “
