DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\n“On October 6\, I’m asking my community to show up and stand with me and my husband\, Wilder\, as we face immigration court proceedings that began after I was detained by ICE. \n\n\n\nEarlier this year\, ICE came to our home. \n\n\n\nAt the time\, I had valid\, unexpired DACA and an unexpired employment authorization document. \n\n\n\nICE agents forced their way into our home and broke through our door/entryway. I asked them for a judicial warrant signed by a judge but I was never shown anything. \n\n\n\nI was still taken into custody. \n\n\n\nI was detained for 5 days and moved through immigration detention facilities before being released. \n\n\n\nFor me\, this is deeply personal. I have lived in this country since I was a child. I have had DACA for years. I had an unexpired work permit. I was living my life\, working\, loving my family\, and contributing to my community. \n\n\n\nI am having to fight for my ability to remain in the country I call home. \n\n\n\nThat is why I’m asking you to SHOW UP. \n\n\n\nPlease arrive by 12:30 PMOur hearing begins at 1:00 PM \n\n\n\nWEAR PINK!  \n\n\n\nPink is our color of solidarity\, love\, strength\, and community. Wear your favorite pink shirt\, dress\, accessory or go ALL OUT in pink.  \n\n\n\nIMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE ATTENDING: \n\n\n\nThere is a limited number of people who can enter the courtroom\, so not everyone will be able to sit inside. \n\n\n\nThat does NOT mean you aren’t needed. \n\n\n\nWE NEED OUR COMMUNITY OUTSIDE TOO. \n\n\n\nWhether you are inside the courtroom or standing outside with us\, your presence matters. \n\n\n\nBring your signs.Bring your friends.Bring your pink.Bring your love. \n\n\n\nAnd if you are also going through an immigration case\, please do not put yourself at risk by attending. You can still support us by sharing this event and helping spread the word. \n\n\n\nThank you to everyone who has stood beside me through this journey.
