Ciscomani’s appearance at Quail Creek \n\n\n\n Congressman Juan Ciscomani will be appearing at the Quail Creek Republican Club meeting on Friday\, June 19 (at 9 a.m.)\, and community members will gather to make their voices heard. This peaceful demonstration is an opportunity to remind our representative that he works for all constituents in Congressional District 6\, not just those who share his political views. \n\n\n\nParticipants will meet at Quail Creek Veterans Municipal Park at approximately 8:15 a.m. before taking positions along East Quail Crossing Boulevard from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Demonstrators will remain outside Quail Creek and will stand in designated public areas along the roadway. Organizers ask everyone to avoid interfering with traffic or access to the Quail Creek guardhouse. \n\n\n\nBring signs that highlight the issues that matter most to you\, particularly those related to Congressman Ciscomani’s votes and positions. A limited number of extra signs will be available for those who need them. Whether your concern is protecting democracy\, defending Social Security and Medicare\, preserving civil and human rights\, safeguarding public education\, or demanding accountability from elected officials\, your presence sends a powerful message. \n\n\n\nRemember\, democracy is not a spectator sport. Peaceful public demonstrations have long been one of the most effective ways citizens can express their concerns and advocate for change. Join your neighbors\, stand together\, and help ensure that the voices of CD6 constituents are seen and heard. \n\n\n\nJOIN US  \n\n\n\nFriday | June 19 | 8:15am \n\n\n\nQuail Creek Veterans Municipal Park \n\n\n\n1905 S Old Nogales Hwy \n\n\n\nSahuarita\, AZ \n\n\n\nPLEASE REMEMBER:  All of our protests are peaceful. SUMMARY:License Plate Hate in Arizona & beyond
DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Join us Friday\, June 19 at noon/PST  as we welcome journalists Hope Pisoni and John Washington to discuss license plate hate in Arizona.  \n\n\n\nSince 2012\, the AZDOT has sold “In God We Trust” license plates; money from every purchase goes to fund an Arizona-based anti-LGBTQIA+ hate group. These two reporters took a deep dive into political license plates in AZ and around the country. Read their reporting here. \n\n\n\nRegister here. \n\n\n\n\nHope Pisoni is an investigative reporter at Uncloseted Media and a proud trans woman. She has investigated anti-trans pseudoscience\, hate groups\, incarceration and more at Uncloseted\, and has written about student activism\, housing and video games for Washington Square News\, City Limits and The A.V. Club\, respectively. Her work has been picked up by local outlets in seven states as well as by long-running publications like GAY TIMES and The Washington Blade. Read Hope’s work here.  \n\n\n\nJohn Washington is a staff writer at Lookout\, where he covers the border and immigration as well as the statehouse. He is also an award-winning translator and author. His latest book\, How to Close a Camp: Dispatches from the Fight Against Immigrant Detention\, will be published by Haymarket Books in July 2026. SUMMARY:Press conference re: DACA recipient Karla Toledo
DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom Karla’s attorney Mo Goldman on FB: “Come join us for a press conference at 9 a.m. Monday (June 22) at El Presidio Park near the El Presidio Fountain (165 W. Alameda Street). \n\n\n\nJoin Karla Toledo\, Rep. Adelita Grijalva (CD 7)\, Mayor Regina Romero and other Southern Arizona elected officials in a press conference to update her deportation saga and the current state of DACA. \n\n\n\nA little background: \n\n\n\nOn June 2\, 2026\, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security filed a motion asking that the immigration court dismiss Ms. Toledo’s deportation proceedings. In that motion\, DHS specifically noted that “circumstances of the respondent’s case have changed after the notice to appear was issued to such an extent that continuation is no longer in the best interest of DHS.” An immigration judge subsequently signed the order to dismiss proceedings. \n\n\n\nOnly a day later\, on June 3\, 2026\, DHS filed a new notice to appear with the immigration court. The notice to appear was the exact same as the first one. Karla is now back in deportation proceedings. \n\n\n\nThis outrageous move by DHS should be widely denounced by our community. DHS is clearly targeting Ms. Toledo as retaliation for speaking out on her own behalf. Karla was victimized on May 18\, 2026\, when ICE agents violently crashed through her front door and arrested her without a judicial warrant. \n\n\n\nThe Southern Arizona community must rally behind Karla as this cannot stand in our community or country. She is part of our great nation as she has lived here for 96% of her life and has been a great member of our community.”

SUMMARY:Nick Mansour\, candidate for Az Treasurer at DGT
DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n“Please join us for a lively discussion and Q&A with Nick Mansour about his campaign for Arizona State Treasurer and the urgent need for new state financial management on Monday\, June 22\, at 12:00 p.m. Arizona time via Zoom. \n\n\n\nYou Must Register in Advance for This Event:\n\n\n\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/UpncC8XnShei5cPr1O5vWQ\n\n\n\nNick was Chairman and CEO of the Arizona College of Nursing\, which he led to become Arizona’s largest nursing school\, a leading nursing college in the nation\, and a significant contributor to solving our state’s and nation’s critical need for nurses. During his tenure\, the Arizona College grew twenty times larger from a single campus to now twenty-four in fourteen states\, while over 90% of the graduates passed their licensing exams on their first try and over 90% found jobs as nurses. Ernst & Young recently recognized Nick as a Pacific Southwest Regional Winner and National Finalist for its Entrepreneur of the Year award. \n\n\n\nSeveral years ago\, Nick faced a serious health scare that resulted in a ten-hour surgery that doctors told him he may not survive. In the weeks leading up to his surgery he had time to reflect and pray and realized that while he had been successful\, he wanted to do more to help others. It’s why he’s stepping up now: he knows Arizona is only scratching the surface of its potential and the unmatched experience and expertise he’ll bring to the State Treasurer’s office will deliver a return on investment for all Arizonans. As Treasurer\, Nick will ensure our state’s finances are run like those of the successful businesses he’s led – so that cities\, towns\, and school districts have the resources they need now and that our state is investing wisely to support future generations and families\, just like yours.” \n\n\n\nCarolyn’s note: this Treasurer position is an open seat as Republican Az Treasurer Kimberly Yee is termed out & running for Supe of Public Instruction. Nick will face off with the Republican nominee in the General Election on Nov. 3\, 2026. I believe Nick spoke at DGT in Oct. 2025 so this is an update on his campaign.
