One of the most important\, yet least known activists of our time\, Dolores Huerta was an equal partner in founding the first farm workers union with César Chávez. Tirelessly leading the fight for racial and labor justice\, Huerta evolved into one of the most defiant feminists of the 20th century — and she continues the fight to this day\, in her 90s. With unprecedented access to this intensely private mother of 11\, Peter Bratt’s film Dolores chronicles Huerta’s life from her childhood in Stockton\, California to her early years with the United Farm Workers\, from her work with the headline-making grape boycott launched in 1965 to her role in the feminist movement of the ’70s\, to her continued work as a fearless activist. \n\n\n\nDolores is an intimate and inspiring portrait of a passionate champion of the oppressed and an indomitable woman willing to accept the personal sacrifices involved in committing one’s life to social change. \n\n\n\nEvent Contact: \n\n\n\nDr. Carlos Francisco Parra\, Assistant Professor of History (cfparra@arizona.edu) \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you! ¡Sí Se Puede!” \n\n\n\nRegister: https://events.trellis.arizona.edu/en/f44lNu67/dolores-celebrating-the-farmworker-and-mexican-american-freedom-movimientos-4a3UKgGtjX/overview

SUMMARY:Journalist Carl Bernstein on Watergate\, Politics & 2025 Election (postponed)
DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\nEvent has been postponed\, so stay tuned for update per La Rosa owner David Slutes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“History as a Warning: Carl Bernstein on Watergate\, Politics\, and the 2025 Election \n\n\n\nPulitzer Prize-winning journalist Carl Bernstein reflects on the lessons of Watergate and the current state of American democracy in a timely conversation on journalism\, power\, and the stakes of the 2025 election. \n\n\n\nSunday\, November 2nd \n\n\n\nAll ages welcomed \n\n\n\nThis is a seated event \n\n\n\nDoors open at 1pmTalk starts at 2pm \n\n\n\n*A limited number of VIP tickets are available for a pre-show reception with Carl Bernstein. \n\n\n\nCarl BernsteinPulitzer Prize-winning Journalist | Bestselling Author | Political Analyst \n\n\n\nFew journalists have had the impact on history and their craft as Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Carl Bernstein. From uncovering the Watergate scandal with Bob Woodward to writing about national and international affairs for half a century\, Bernstein’s books\, reporting\, and commentary have revealed the hidden workings of government and politics around the world. \n\n\n\nBernstein’s important on-air reporting and commentary on Donald Trump for CNN has been widely recognized for continuing the kind of work he and Bob Woodward pioneered during the Nixon presidency. \n\n\n\nIn 1973\, Woodward and Bernstein were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for their Watergate coverage at the Washington Post\, leading to the resignation of President Richard Nixon and setting new standards for investigative journalism. The pair went on to write two classic best-sellers: All the President’s Men (also a movie starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman); and The Final Days\, chronicling the end of the Nixon presidency. \n\n\n\nBernstein’s recently released book\, Chasing History: A Kid in the Newsroom\, became an instant New York Times bestseller\, receiving extraordinary attention and praise in reviews throughout the United States and Europe. In it\, Bernstein recounts his earliest days in journalism at the Washington Evening Star newspaper\, where he began his career during the Kennedy era as a 16-year- old copyboy. The roots of his Watergate reporting can be seen in this remarkable apprenticeship as a teenage reporter in the nation’s capital. \n\n\n\nBernstein’s other best-selling books demonstrate his unique range as a journalist: Loyalties: A Son’s Memoir\, about his family’s experiences in the McCarthy era; His Holiness: Pope John Paul II and The History of Our Time – a biography of Pope John Paul II – that revealed the Pope’s pivotal role in the fall of communism; and A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton\, acclaimed as the definitive biography on the subject. \n\n\n\nHis magazine articles have appeared in TIME\, USA Today\, Rolling Stone and New Republic. From 1999-2001\, Bernstein served as editor and executive vice president of Voter.com\, a pioneering website that Forbes named the best political site on the internet. He has worked as Washington bureau chief and correspondent for ABC News; and\, while at the Washington Post\, was also a part-time rock critic.” \n\n\n\nCarolyn’s note: General admission tickets start at $46\, with VIP reception at $240. Tucson Sentinel political reporter Jim Nintzel will do the interview. Buy tickets here:https://wl.eventim.us/event/carl-bernstein/653798?afflky=LaRosaTucson
