SUMMARY:Equality Az Legislative kickoff breakfast
DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“This annual event brings together advocates\, community members\, and elected officials to launch the legislative session in shared purpose and community. \n\n\n\nSecure your seat now:  2026 Legislative Kickoff Breakfast \n\n\n\nFeaturing keynote speakers Sara Burlingame of Wyoming Equality and Andrew Schneider of Fairness West Virginia. Sara and Andrew will share what their communities are experiencing in states facing challenges similar to Arizona’s\, along with the strategies they’re using to advance LGBTQ+ civil rights—offering perspective and inspiration to strengthen our work here at home. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year’s breakfast will also include a legislative panel with Arizona lawmakers Sara Liguori\, Flavio Bravo\, and Lorena Austin\, who will share insights on the session ahead and the issues most impacting LGBTQ+ Arizonans. You’ll hear what’s coming\, why it matters\, and how you can take action to help advance equality across our state. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a longtime advocate or newly engaged\, this is a powerful way to get informed\, get inspired\, and get involved as the legislative session begins. We hope you’ll join us this Thursday Jan 8th and help set the tone for the year ahead.” \n\n\n\nSecure your seat today:  2026 Legislative Kickoff Breakfast

SUMMARY:Rethinking Transportation
DESCRIPTION:by Carolyn Classen\, blogger \n\n\n\n“Join us on Wednesday\, January 7th in the Ward 6 community room from 6 – 8 pm to discuss RTA Next.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll take a closer look at key concerns surrounding RTA Next—also known as Propositions 418 and 419—which will go before voters in March 2026. Maass\, who served on the RTA Citizens’ Advisory Committee\, and Albert Elías\, city planner\, former public administrator\, and chair of LSA’s Advocacy Committee\, will share insights on what’s at stake and what a more forward-thinking approach could look like.” \n\n\n\nRSVP Here\n\n\n\nCarolyn’s note: New Ward 6 Councilmember Miranda Schubert is a commuter bicyclist\, as is my husband. I often take the Sun Tran bus and Sun Link streetcar\, and drive our car. Bicycling is difficult for me recently due to health issues. Attend this talk to learn about other ways to rethink transportation options in Tucson.
