Like Trump, Paul Gosar is a Vote by Mail Hypocrite

Donald Trump thinks voting by mail is bad for everyone except Donald Trump.

The 2016 Popular Vote Loser has railed against expanding the option for voters across the country during a pandemic because he fears Republican electoral defeats on November 3, 2020.

He falsely claims there would be great voter fraud.

Yet, the Liar in Chief and his Press Secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, took advantage of the option in the recent Florida Primary. McEnany has used the mail-in ballot at least nine other times as well. If journalists probe further, there are undoubtedly more Trump loyalists that engage in voting by mail.

Does the word hypocrite come to mind?

Arizona Congressional District Four House Representative Paul Gosar, the “public servant” with a big travel expense account and affinity for white nationalists whose family members participated in a video ad against him, is also a hypocrite in this area.

According to reporting by Robin Bravender at AZ Mirror, Mr. Gosar tweeted:

“Be wary of efforts to steal and corrupt our electoral process through ‘ballot harvesting’ and other avenues to voter fraud. Voting by mail is a dangerous and slippery slope!”

Gosar also had a video of Donald Trump verbally jousting with ABC Journalist Jonathan Karl on mail-in voter fraud to back up his assertion.

Well if Mr. Gosar thinks “voting my mail is a dangerous and slippery slope,” then why has he done it eight times since 2012 in the elections of 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018?

Why is he a member of the Permanent Early Voter Mailing List (PEVL?)

Why is it dangerous and a slippery slope for the other voters of Congressional District Four (and the rest of the state and country) to mail-in votes and not him?

The people of his district (80 percent of the Yavapai residents are on the PEVL) probably would like to know the answer to those questions.

So would Delina DiSanto, the Democrat looking to defeat Mr. Gosar in the November elections.

Arizona Congressional District Four Candidate Delina Di Santo

In response to a request for comment by Blog For Arizona. Ms. DiSanto issued a statement which read:

“Representative Gosar should listen to election experts because there is no evidence to support claims that increased voting by mail favors Democrats. He should know older and more conservative voters disproportionately will stay away from the polls due to Coronavirus, which Democratic opponents may benefit. Maybe he wants me to win?”

“Republicans have called out “voter fraud” for many years; schemes like challenging voters with undeliverable mail, known as “voter caging,” It still flourishes, as voter caging cancels thousands of voters in disproportionately black precincts or to registered voters who are identified as likely to be unfriendly to their candidate. We are keeping an eye on that.”

“In a number of states, mail-in voting is particularly popular among older and rural voters, who tend to favor Republicans. Republicans in rural parts of the state compete with Democratic strongholds that have more resources to dedicate to in-person early voting. Because rural counties don’t open many early-voting locations, voting by mail is more important.”

“Representative Paul Gosar is saying voting by mail is dangerous, even though he has voted by early ballot eight times. His comments come from Trump, who says “Mail ballots are a very dangerous thing for this country because they are cheaters…”. Trump has voted by mail. What makes them better than the voters of AZ04 and Arizona? Rep Gosar is echoing Trump’s words and has been since Trump’s been in office. He doesn’t care about his constituents. He doesn’t care that the majority of Arizonians want voting by mail.”

“He is not listening. I will!”

Study after study has shown that voter fraud is not a major electoral problem.

The only fraud is hypocrites like Trump and Gosar who continue to spread another “big lie.”

Even Republican officials in states like Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin recognize the merits of the mail-in voting system which has been in place for a little over a decade now in some parts of the country.

Especially during a health pandemic, it should be expanded and not curtailed.

Hopefully, Governor Ducey and the Arizona State Legislature will do enact that measure during a special session.

In the meantime…

  1. The current Republicans dont seem to be fazed one iota by raging hypocrisy. This seems to be their total existence. McConnell, Graham, Lesko, Gosar, almost all members of the Occupant’s administration are all practitioners of raging hypocrisy. The Occupant himself is so impulsive he wouldn’t know the difference. The “Do as I say, not as I do,” party.

    • They don’t care about hypocrisy, morals, rule of law, patriotism or anything that could stand in the way of their holding power. And their holding the power, not to govern but to rule like the feudal lords they aspire to be, is the goal above all else. As I said to The Sharpie about the Good Senator Kavanagh & his ilk: “They set lower standards for themselves than the ones they set for those who are not them”.

Let’s hope November will be the start of a terrible reckoning. A reckoning that’s been a long time (40 years & counting) that they’ve gone out of their way to earn.
