Stephen-Jenkinson-Die-Wise-A-Manifesto-for-Sanity-and-Soul-300x300Monsoon Death Cafe coming up on August 26, 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Benedictine Monastery, 400 N. Country Club Rd.  Stephen Jenkinson whom they refer to below is the author of a new book entitled “Die Wise – A Manifesto for Sanity and Soul”.  Jenkinson’s website, www.orphanwisdom.com

Join us for the usual refreshments, snacks and lively conversation about death and dying in a safe, relaxed and cool setting as the storms brew! We set this gathering purposefully after the day long presentation by Stephen Jenkinson at the Galactic Center on 8/23, so discussion could occur for folks who attend this great opportunity to hear Stephen speak in person. For info on his visit to Tucson go to: https://www.facebook.com/events/1461970190785674/

Carolyn’s note: I attended a Death Cafe in February at the same location, and many others attended, some grieving recent deaths, others curious or concerned, some experts in the field.  Check it out if you have experienced the death of a loved one, have pre-bereavement questions about your own mortality, and if you want to talk with others about death & dying.

  1. My husband and I dropped by this final?Tucson Death Cafe (the 2 organizers want to hand the torch onto someone else, after almost 3 years). Everyone introduced themselves and were asked to say a euphemism about death. Amazing all the varied responses such as “kick the bucket”, move onto the Light, pass on, the Big Moment, disappear, jumping off the shovel, etc. Mine was “transition” when someone dies. Stay tuned to see if these Death Cafes continue in Tucson. Others spoke of Jenkinson’s teachings over the weekend, and his mention of our culture being death-phobic.
