New route for fall Cyclovia Tucson

Brand new route this year for the very popular Cyclovia Tucson, a fun family activity w/o cars. People of all ages bike, walk, stroll, skate the route, which is closed to vehicular traffic.

Living Streets Alliance is pleased to announce that on Sunday, October 29th from 10am to 3pm, Cyclovia Tucson will take place on a new route along South 12th Avenue from West 39th Street to Mission Manor Park. This 3.75-mile long route is home to dozens of locally owned small businesses featuring some of Tucson’s best Mexican food, plus scores of schools, community centers, places of worship, parks and neighborhoods. Dozens of free activities will line the route, concentrated around 5 activity hubs, and local restaurants will welcome guests with expanded outdoor seating for the day.

Community members, business owners, and representatives from South 12th Avenue’s many schools and organizations have been hard at work for months planning an event that will showcase the unique aspects of the area. A youth Mariachi showcase will take place outside Pueblo High School, there are all-class reunions for Sunnyside High School and Pueblo High alumni taking place at different locations along the route, live music by Jimmy Carr and The Awkward Moments , Santa Pachita and Escuelita Musical will be featured outside of El Guero Canelo Restaurante Mexicano, and BK Carne Asada & Hot Dogs will host the high-flying zip line and rock climbing wall. The South 12th Avenue route will more than ever have something to offer everyone. “More info at: https://www.cycloviatucson.org/

  1. We started walking Cyclovia this year at the north end near the Julian Wash and W. 40th Street, with the activity hub of Pima County bookmobile, Beyond Bread, GABA, etc. then walked about a mile south to hear mariachi music at Pueblo High School. Lots of bikes, skateboards, scooters, some baby strollers, one Segway, and a cart along the way.Ate delicious fish taco (with limonada & horchata) at El Gorrion at 3459 S. 12th Avenue on their outside porch. Note: don’t text and bike, as we saw a young woman almost collide into another bicyclist on her bike. Enjoy today’s activities till 3 p.m.
