48th Annual Tucson Juneteenth Festival

Saturday, June 16, 10:00 a.m.: 48th Annual Tucson Juneteenth Festival, at the Dunbar Cultural Center, 325 W. 2nd Street, Tucson. Juneteenth day is the oldest known celebration that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and the Tucson Juneteenth Festival marks a very important milestone in American history each year. Drinking Liberally

Sunday, June 24, 6:00 p.m.: 21st Annual El Día de San Juan Fiesta, Mercado San Agustin Annex, 267 S. Avenida del Convento, Tucson, across the street from Mercado San Agustin. The Fiesta procession will start at 6PM at the Mission Gardens with an antique statue of San Juan Bautista. Prayers from several cultural traditions are offered. Following the procession, the Fiesta goes into full swing. There will be entertainment, live music, piñatas and family activities. In keeping with the theme of the monsoon season and renewal, free water will be provided to all Fiesta attendees. Parking is available in the lot directly in front of and behind the Mercado. The event will also be accessible by SunLink Streetcar at the Mercado San Agustin stop. Free parking is located at the dirt lot in front of the Mercado. We regret no animals are allowed, service dogs only.

Sunday, November 11: Centennial of Armistice Day (now Veterans Day) – the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War took effect at the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918.

Sunday, November 11, 10:00 a.m. ET: Commemorative Ceremony for 100th Anniversary of the Armistice at National Cathedral. The National Cathedral in Washington D.C. will be the home of the largest commemoration of the end of the First World War in the former Allied Powers. Hundreds of major members of he governments and armed forces of the nations that composed the Allies in World War One will honor the lives of the millions of fallen men and women, and recognize the significance of the conflict, as well as how vital it is to prevent such a horrible conflict from ever happening again. The National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. will hold a bell ringing ceremony at 11 am on Sunday, Nov. 11th, 2018 to commemorate the centennial of the Armistice. Local churches, schools, courthouses, and other entities are invited to participate at the time of this nationwide occasion at each respected time zone.
