Process to fill District 2 Vacancy on PCC Board of Governors

  • PIMA COUNTY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT LINDA ARZOUMANIAN ANNOUNCES PROCESS TO FILL DISTRICT 2 VACANCY ON PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE BOARD OF GOVERNORS (press release)
    “Pima County School Superintendent, Dr. Linda Arzoumanian, has set the process for filling the District 2 vacancy on the Pima Community College Board of Governors left by David Longoria’s resignation on October 19, 2015. State law requires that the Pima County School Superintendent fill any vacancy on the board of Pima Community College (PCC).
    An application period will be open through November 24, 2015 for individuals who wish to be considered for appointment to fill the vacancy.All applications will be due to the Office of the Pima County School Superintendent by 5:00PM on Tuesday, November 24th.
    Applications will be available for download on the Superintendent’s website at: http://www.schools.pima.gov.Individuals may also pick up a hard copy application or request to have one mailed by contacting the Superintendent’s Office.

    As in previous appointments, Dr. Arzoumanian will impanel a Community Advisory Committee that will interview the eligible candidates and provide their recommendation(s) to her, who will then make the final decision on appointment.An online application is also available on line for individuals interested in serving on the Community Advisory Committee.
    The online application will be available at the Superintendent’s website at: http://www.schools.pima.gov. The submission deadline will also be November 24, 2015 at 5:00PM.
    The Committee will be comprised of: a PCC faculty member, a PCC non-faculty staff member, a PCC student, a business owner or business leader, a school district superintendent and a community member. The business owner or business leader must have their business or organization located within the boundaries of PCC District 2. The community member must reside within the  boundaries of District 2, as well. The PCC representatives and the school district superintendent will not be required to reside in
    District 2. The school district superintendent will be selected by Dr. Arzoumanian directly and not via the online form.
    The dates for the Committee interviews will be scheduled at a later date. The individual appointed to fill the vacancy will serve as of the date of appointment and through December 31, 2016. The individual will be required to run for election in November 2016 to retain their seat. This position will be on the November 2016 General Election ballot for a regular, six-year term.”
