A Different Kind of Fashion Show
The 12th Annual Möda Provŏcateūr, presented by Title Sponsor, FreedomSmoke International, and supported by Arizona Lottery and WABA Hair Supply is an event celebrating the best of Tucson style while raising funds for the programs and services of the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation (SAAF). The Tucson Convention Center Grand Ballroom will be a perfect place to showcase salons including: Ahead of Style; Avalon for Hair, Skin & Nails; The Industry Hair Studio; Salon de Nouveau; Ulta; Toni & Guy; Twisted Salon; and Village Salon.
The evening will include performances from BreakOut Studios and Artifact Dance Project as well as winning fashions from “Project Möda”, an annual design contest that seeks out the best designers in Tucson and tasks them with creating edgy, avant-garde designs to be featured at the event.

Dropped by the rehearsal of the 8 salons participating this year, and watched as gorgeous, multi-cultural models strutted or danced their way down the runway, to lively music. Got a sneak preview of a twilight zone/”The Jetsons” sci-fi number, and also some fast-paced modern dancing choreography. The extravaganza will end with a Project MODA competition where the audience will vote for “Best in Show” and “Best in Collection”. Buy your tickets now.
SAAF Executive Director Wendell Hicks was there & confirmed that this provocative fashion show would be “over the top” as usual.
Wow, this show is definitely not your grandmother’s fashion show, esp. with muscular male models in tight golden speedos. Hot dancing by Salon Nouveau (loudest applause too for their terrific routines with futuristic neon lights); a flamboyant set of unique fashions including chain mail by Ahead of Style salon; and creative sleek black/white/red circus-like fashions by Toni & Guy (and those gold speedos). Enjoyed the pseudo-Hawaiian tropical men in lei and lavalavas, with torches and bikini clad women at the end of the evening by Twisted Salon. $85,000 raised for SAAF this year according to MC Lupita Murilla in a black sequined dress and red high heals. Congrats on another successful Moda fashion show.
