by William Shakespeare”The El Rio Theatre Project will present its 11th annual Shakespeare in the Park with William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Himmel Park Outdoor Amphitheatre, 1000 N. Tucson Blvd. Performances are scheduled for Sept 15-17, 21-24 & 28- Oct.1. Curtain time is 7 p.m. for all performances; the event is free to the public, with a suggested donation of $5. Bring a blanket, a picnic basket and the whole family, and enjoy an evening of Theatre in the park.Widely recognized as a comic masterpiece, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most popular works. The play has inspired numerous adaptations, including Felix Mendelssohn’s acclaimed musical score for a nineteenth-century production. Written about 1595, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is considered Shakespeare’s first mature comedy. The story of this delightful play enjoys brilliant characterization, richness of language, and compositional complexity that has provided critics and commentators with material for much theorizing and remains a timeless and limitless source of aesthetic pleasure.

Finally got to see this romantic comedy on Friday night, with lots of others, including several neighbors. It was typically funny, along with some musical numbers, and a lot of slapstick comedic actions in the 2nd half with the Pyramus & Thisbe subplot play to be presented to the Duke and his party. A very dedicated troupe of Shakespearean actors in the Old Pueblo.
a updated version of julius caesar would be more interesting ;but less safe.
