Tailor Made Biden/Harris Ad for the Arizona Market starring Cindy McCain

The BIden/Harris Campaign continued its quest to capture Arizona and its 11 Electoral Votes this November by unveiling an ad starring Cindy McCain.

Called “Like John Did,” the late Arizona Senators widow recounted the friendship between the 2008 Republican Presidential Nominee and the former Vice President.

She said:

“They’d fight like hell on the (Senate) floor and then go eat lunch together because they always put their friendship and their country first.”

Mrs. McCain then pivoted and called on people to vote for her late husband’s Democratic friend, pointing out Biden’s strengths compared to Trump’s obvious weaknesses:

“Now more than ever we need a President who will put service before self. A President who will lead with courage and compassion, not ego. A President who will respect the sacrifices made by our service members and their families. A President who will honor our fallen heroes and a President who will bring out the best in us, not the worst.”

She concluded with:

“Joe will always fight for the American People, just like John did.”

  1. It’s very kind of John McCain’s wife to endorse Joe and make an ad for him, etc… Hopefully, this will encourage some of the more conservative AZ voters to vote for Joe so he can win the state.

However, and I should probably just keep my opinion to myself, BUT…

I keep thinking about the work ahead in re-establishing some degree of normalcy. And I do not have a vision of good ol’ (white) boys in the Senate or the House or wherever having heated arguments about policy, then slapping each other on the back and yukking it up over steak dinners getting us anywhere. What I really don’t believe is that anyone is going to cross that great divide, whatever it might be, and work together in a “bi-partisan” manner.

I really don’t give a rat’s a$$ about “unity”. The opposition, the party of Trump, believes in scorched earth tactics, winner take all, and burning down the country so they can destroy every democratic achievement of the past 90 years and make sure that democracy does, in fact, die here.

If the Democrats take the presidency, House, and Senate, I would prefer they spend as little time as possible dwelling on the good old days, decades ago when regular guys like Joe and John could get along. What we need is diversity, more voices at the table, and a 21st century progressive agenda that we pursue like there is no tomorrow. Fight fire with fire, better yet, fight fire with napalm.

Just look at what these people have done. Unity is highly overrated and really, it’s not even possible.

    • Dems need to get back to FDR.

Put AOC and Katie Porter on point.

I’ll take all the old white dudes golfing to distract them. Some day drinking should keep them all in check for a while.

      • Amen.

I was listening to Al Gore a couple of days ago on one of the cable news shows, can’t remember which. But he’s talking about climate change, where we need to go from here, etc…and I damn near broke down and cried. He spoke well and clearly has an educator’s level of expertise. I get to thinking about the 2000 election, Bush v. Gore, and then Afghanistan, Iraq, the so-called “War on Terror”, the Bush recession and on and on because everything is connected.

So then, what if? I have to believe we would be in a very different place had Gore been president instead of Bush. And some days I believe that was our last chance to get this right, at least in my lifetime.

So much has been squandered. Needlessly.

But, yeah, there are some promising new leaders out there, AOC and Katie Porter for sure.

    • Appealing as it is unity is just a corporate media buzzword, though to low information voters the Biden campaign does need to bring it up. Unity aside, people are more concerned about the impact of policies on their daily lives than some media manufactured “bipartisanship” goal.

Agree with FSNT Sharpie about AOC & Katie Porter. I would add Raul Grijalva to make it a trio.

      • Yeah, “unity” with people who refuse to wear a face mask during a pandemic is kind of a joke.

I agree about Raul Grijalva, he’s the real deal.

        • I think of the “bipartisanship” comparison where you’re out to dinner with a date, you order a filet mignon while she orders rusty tire rims sprinkled with anthrax. And you’re supposed to compromise.

  2. That a damn fine ad! Gave me a little misty about that cantankerous son of a gun, McCain. I certainly almost never agreed with him, but I never doubted his devotion to our democratic process.
