Tucson Sentinel is reporting that Dr. Mark Stegemen in his 3rd term on the TUSD Governing Board resigned today on the Bill Buckmaster show:

Dr. Stegeman was first elected in Nov. 2008, re-elected in 2012, and 2016. His resignation was effective immediately (today).

Dr. Stegeman’s term was up next year in 2020, so Pima County Superintendent of Schools Dustin Williams will be appointing a successor to fill his term, till the General Election of 2020.

Already running for TUSD School Board in 2020 are Dr. Ravi Grivois-Shah (family physician, political newcomer) and Adam Ragan, educator who ran before in 2018 (came in 3rd in 5 way race for 2 seats).

Also up for re-election next year are long term board member Kristel Foster and one term member  Rachael Sedgwick, who is considering a bid for District 5 Pima County Supervisor.
