It is time to update the “silly wild ass guess” (SWAG) list of candidates running for office in November. Below is a list of candidates who made the cut at the filing deadline to run for either the State Legislature or a seat on the Corporation Commission. The filing deadline for declared party candidacies was April 6, 2020. Write-in Primary Candidates have until July 2020 to file.
Voters need to pay attention to these races just as much as the Presidential and Congressional ones. The public servants who are in the State Legislature and the Corporation Commission affect the everyday lives of every Arizona resident either by determining how much money school gets, setting rates for utility companies, and developing the criteria to qualify for programs like Medicaid.
They also serve as developing public servants that will run for higher office.
The Arizona Legislative and Corporate Commission Primaries will be held on August 4, 2020.
The General Election will be held on November 3, 2020.
The name of the candidates has been taken from the Arizona Secretary of State Office.
The Corporation Commission Candidates are listed after the legislative candidates.
The name of the candidates is shown by the last name first, then the position they are running for (senate candidates listed first), then the district, and the political party.

The Citizens Clean Elections Commission has posted the following information about primary candidate debates:
The Citizens Clean Elections Commission sponsors statewide and legislative debates. Only contested races will have a debate. Additionally, debates will only occur if there is a participating Clean Elections candidate or upon the request of a traditional candidate. All debates and times are subject to change.
HOW ARE DEBATES COMPLYING WITH FEDERAL AND STATE COVID-19 MEASURES?
The Commission has taken steps to ensure a safe and convenient way for voters and candidates to participate in the 2020 Legislative Candidate Debates.
In response to COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC and AZDHS and the Governor’s Executive Orders, Clean Elections will host the primary election debates on a virtual platform. Candidates will participate in the debate via Zoom, and voters will be able to view the debate via the Clean Elections YouTube page. The debate will be live streamed and recorded for subsequent viewing. Clean Elections is creating dedicated channels for voters to submit questions for the candidates in real time. Our experienced team is ensuring all those who wish to participate and view the debate can do so in a simplified, accessible and safe manner.
Check back here for more updates on how you can participate in this important and unique part of Arizona’s Democracy.
HOW DO I WATCH THE DEBATE?
All debates will be live streamed on the Clean Elections YouTube Page. If you miss the live stream, the recorded debates will continue to be available on our YouTube page so you can watch at your convenience.
Any person with a disability may request accommodation, such as a sign language interpreter, by contacting the Commission at (602) 364-3477. Requests should be made as early as possible to allow time to arrange accommodations.

For Southern Az good news for LD 3 and LD 9 Senate, no Republican opposition so Senators Sally Ann Gonzales and Victoria Steele will be elected outright. Only contested races in Primary are LD 11 Senate, LD 2, LD 3 and 10 in the House for the Dems. Then on to the General.
The GOP will attempt a write-in candidate in LD 9. Good luck with COVID-19 shutting down petition circulators.
